For this Assignment please be sure you have listened to the NPR Podcast entitled Outsourcing Compassion: Debriefing Trauma Patients and read the two short articles from Regel and Lewis before completing the Assignment.
Both the podcast and the articles you read state that critical incident stress debriefing does not reduce the incidence of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), in fact, for some individuals it may produce PTSD. Response shoul be 400 - 500 words, discuss why this may be and, address whether preventing an officer from developing PTSD should be the measure of success for a critical incident stress debriefing or if there should be other reasons to use it.
