Problem:
Percival was Manny's lawyer for many years and not only handled legal matters for Manny, but also gave him important advice on business matters. At one stage, Manny owed Percival about $3000 for professional services; Percival suggested to Manny that the account could be conveniently settled in full if Manny would transfer his new Ferrari sports car to Percival. Manny hesitated at first, but realizing how indispensable his relationship with Percival had been and how important it was that that Percival should continue to respect the confidential nature of his private business affairs, Manny transferred the Ferrari to Percival. When Carla heard about the contract, she persuaded Manny that he had made a bad bargain. She said he could get $30 000 for the car if he got out of his contract with Percival.
