Assignment:
For this assignment, you will write a research paper on a topic of historical significance to physical education. You may focus on one area but you are not discouraged to write about several. The decision is yours. In addition, your synopsis is to be submitted one week before the research paper is due. It should indicate the topic you are researching, what journals, books, and reliable websites consulted. It should contain a few facts, events, and pertinent names (see Jessy Owens Berlin Olympics 1936). Are you able to find enough sources? If you want to go back in time, you may look at Milo of Croton, a wrestler from Magna Graecian (510 BC.) You need to be ready to present your research paper in class.
Your presentation should be 5-10 minutes. Please create a PowerPoint presentation to present your literature review. Your PowerPoint should capture dates, events, and stories of people who have made significant contributions to sport, society, and our culture. Conclude your presentation by looking into the future. In what ways that period shaped our culture, society and physical education. I am looking for quality work. Plagiarism will not be tolerated.

Introduction and Problem Statement:
- Your manuscript will open with an introduction that presents the topic researched and supported by a few citations. There are a few basic questions your introduction should address: Why is this topic important? How does the topic researched relate to previous studies? Also, what are the major implications of this topic? State why this topic deserves additional research?
(Literature) Describe relevant scholarship:
1. Your literature review should discuss relevant literature. The scholarly description of earlier work in your introduction should be able to provide a summary of work that is directly related to your topic. Show a logical continuity between previous and current research. How does the literature used add to an overall understanding of the problem or topic?
2. The references cited in your paper do not need to be exhaustive but should be sufficient to support the need for your review of the literature. References should be accurate, complete and useful to your paper. Start your reference list on a new page. The word references should appear in upper case and lowercase letters, centered. Double-space all reference entries. APA publishes references in a hanging indent format, meaning that the first line of each reference is set flush left and subsequent lines are indented.
3. Conclusion:
You are now in a position to evaluate and interpret the implications of your review of the literature. What conclusions are you able to draw from your investigation? Acknowledge the limitations of your review of the problem, and address alternative explanation.
