Research Paper and Oral Presentation- Write a paper (5-6 pgs double spaced 12 pt font) examining a Latin American artist/object(s) of your choice. Successful papers will apply ideas and issues put forth in the reading material or discussed in class. Proper MLA citations, bibliography, and labeled illustrations (artist, title, date, medium, dimensions, location) required.
The final week of the semester you will be required to present your research (10-15 min) using a slide presentation. Students should present from a written text (Generally 2 minutes/page) in order to most effectively communicate their analysis of the mural.
An abstract of your paper proposing the scope of your topic including your thesis statement... Late papers will be marked down ½ grade for every day that they are late.
Students will be graded according to the following criteria:
- Clarity of writing - structure, thesis, phrasing and grammar
- Application of themes, issues and methodologies read and discussed in class
- Correct use of art historical terminology
- Contextualization of work of art or artist (can be historical, social, political, iconographical, etc.)
- Evidence of first hand examination of object (s) as relevant
