Assessment Task 1- Organisational Review
To complete this assessment, you will first need to review the Lego Group Case Study information provided in Appendix A. You will also need to conduct additional internet research in order to complete the tasks below.
1. Research and outline a suitable strategy to monitor and evaluate the performance and sustainability of the key systems and processes at The Lego Group and similar organisations in order to identify an area for improvement. (30-40 words)
2. Using the strategy you outlined in the previous task, analyse and provide a report on the following systems at The Lego Group:
a. Supply chain management (40-50 words)
b. Operations (40-50 words)
c. Product delivery (40-SO words)
d. Service delivery (40-50 words)
It is expected that you will need to conduct additional research to complete this task and that certain assumptions will need to be made. Please list all websites and other information sources accessed and note when assumptions have been made. (160-200 words)
3. a) Select and briefly describe three (3) methods or tools to measure organisational performance that would be relevant to Lego. (50-60 words)
b) Compare the three (3) chosen methods or tools. (60-80 words)
4. Access The Lego Group Annual Report 2015 via the following link: htto://www.lecio.com/en-us/AboutUsilego-groupiannual-report.
a. Using the PESTEL format, identify and explain the external environment factors that affect The Lego Group. (60-80 words)
b. Describe the impact of the external environment on the results and variances with their key business objectives as contained in the annual report. (50-60 words)
c. Research and outline at least two (2) technological opportunities for The Lego Group, including e-commerce. (30-40 words)
d. Provide the details (e.g. website or address) of two (2) suppliers or specialists in e-commerce. (10-20 words)
Assessment Task 2 - Workshop
1. Arrange a time to conduct a workshop for at least three (3) other students in your class as employees of The Lego Group. You may use visual aids such as PowerPoint to enhance the audience experience. Your workshop should take approximately fourty (40) minutes.
2. Your Trainer & Assessor will observe you conducting the workshop and will complete Observation Checklist 1 to record your communication techniques.
3. The purpose of your workshop is to:
a) Educate the group about performance improvement strategies
b) Educate the group about the role of innovation and sustainability in remaining competitive in today's market including relevant sustainability practices
c) Encourage the group to come up with new ideas for The Lego Group using tools such as brainstorming, including at least one new idea connected to sustainability
4. After the workshop, choose three (3) of the new ideas and for each one conduct the following:
a) Risk analysis (50-60 words)
b) Cost-benefit analysis (50-60 words)
5. Write a summary of the workshop for the CEO including the following:
a) Purpose and objectives of the workshop
b) Overview of the format and participants (stakeholders) in the workshop
c) New ideas and proposals generated by the group
d) Recommendation of which new idea/s you propose to implement, upon their approval, and the rationale for your recommendations (100-120 words)
Assessment Task 3 - Implementation and Communications Plan
The new idea or innovation you recommended for The Lego Group in the previous Assessment Task has been approved by the CEO.
You now need to create a detailed implementation plan for rollout. Your plan must be professionally presented in a proper business format.
Your implementation and communications plan must include:
a) A detailed implementation plan with clear objectives, actions and timeframes including monitoring and evaluation processes, and the retention of lessons learned to inform future work. (120-150 words)
b) A change management plan to reduce any negative impact on employees and encourage commitment to the new idea or innovation by highlighting the benefits for them and The Lego Group. (80-100 words)
c) A communication plan to inform employees about the implementation of the new idea or innovation and keep them regularly updated. (100-120 words)
d) A risk management plan with contingencies for non-performance or realised risk including methods for the investigation and analysis of issues. (100-120 words)
Assessment Task 4 - Written Questions
1. Outline a procedure for conducting a cost-benefit analysis. (50-60 words)
2. Describe at least two (2) creativity and innovation theories and concepts. (60-80 words)
3. a) Explain what is meant by risk management (20-30 words) b) What areas of a business it is aimed at? (30-40 words)
4. Describe three (3) continuous improvement or quality management theories. (30-40 words)
5. List and explain the five (5) disciplines of organisational learning. (50-70 words)
