Mutations can lead to missing or malformed proteins that can lead to disease. A group of scientists in the United Kingdom have published a paper in the American Journal of Human Genetics stating that the average person has an about 400 defects in his or her genes, including at least a few associated with disease. There are many genetic disorders. But most of us are not affected by genetic disease. Why not? Research and discuss one of the many genetic disorders.
