Assignment task: Respond to post:

Alfred Adler believed one's position in the family had a big influence on their personality. He believed that a person's birth order and relationships with siblings impacted their personality development. Adler proposed that general principles could explain how the interactions between parents and children, as well as siblings, could affect how a child develops over time (Hoffman, 2023). Adler's theory explains how birth order shapes personality from the firstborn to the youngest, as well as all in between. Adler's theory is based that all human behavior is goal oriented and is a strive for superiority and individuals differ in their goals and how they try to achieve them (Hoffman, 2023).

Adler's theory can be useful but along with some theories there are outliers and limitations. The birth order can change, especially with more homes having blended families. I do believe that Adler's theory shows a pattern with certain childhood experiences. For example, I am the oldest child, some of the characteristics mentioned for the oldest are leadership, high achiever, responsible, dependable, helpful, aims to please others, and wanting to feel superior over younger siblings. I can relate to a lot of these personality traits, my dad also always talked about me to be this type of person. I'm the motivated one compared to my brothers.

Explain why you agree and/or disagree with each point. Doing so will expand your as well as your peer's understanding of the issue. In addition, each reply needs to ask your peer one or more questions that expand their understanding of the issue.
