Assignment task: Reflecting on Effective Leadership
We have all observed effective leaders, as well as less effective leaders. Reflect on a situation in which you observed or experienced positive leadership, and what the results were.
This might have involved a supervisor, colleague, company CEO, church leader, school leader, or someone similar. Think about what you saw in this leader, and how their actions fit in with your idea of what leadership is. Also, consider what you have learned about yourself as a leader through the self-assessments, and how your own strengths and priorities fit in with your assessment of the leader you are thinking about.
Then share your ideas on effective leadership. Here are some suggestions to get you started:
Talk about a leader who inspired or impressed you. Tell us why they were impressive and what strengths they exhibited.
Talk about a leader who lacked strengths that you deem essential to a leader. How might you ensure that you don't make the same mistakes?
What strengths, or areas of improvement, have been revealed in the assessments you have taken so far? How do you plan to use the results?
