Reflect very different subject positions and eras

Problem: Writing from Tommy Orange ("The State") and Virginia Woolf (Mrs. Dalloway) reflect very different subject positions (i.e., identities) and eras. However, perhaps similarities exist, both in terms of subject matter and writing style. Perhaps similarities don't exist and the two writers shouldn't be compared or considered engaged in similar projects. What do you think?
