Reflect upon an ethical dilemma in a clinical setting that requires a difficult decision. The dilemma could be a situation you had either experienced, or are interested in. IMPORTANT: you are NOT solving or providing a solution to dilemma. With ethical dilemma in mind, review the "Ethical Practice" and "Ethical Decision-Making in Nursing" sections on pages 45-46 of the ATI Leadership and Management textbook and any ethics-related content in Yoder-Wise and Sportsman to answer the following:

Describe your ethical dilemma as briefly as possible.

Examples:

- A terminally ill patient is expected to expire soon. The family asks not to disclose to the patient their prognosis to spare their emotions.

- A patient tests positive for an infectious disease, but refuses to disclose who they may have spread it to.

- An adolescent patient in the doctor's clinic suspects she is pregnant but asks that the nurse keeps it a secret from her parents.

Explain why your problem is an ethical dilemma (your answer must be correct).

Explain what specific information you should in gather in this situation to develop a solution.

Describe which ethical principles (e.g., autonomy, beneficence, fidelity) are relevant in this situation (i.e., what ethical principles should be demonstrated, protected, or considered), and explain why you think so.
