Problem 1) Use everyday objects (e.g., magazine cutouts, photos) to create a "social justice quilt" that represents the most salient aspects of your identity (Mexican American, women, straight, Catholic).
Problem 2) Reflect on the components of your cultural identity and generate a narrative using your knowledge (discovered self-awareness and reflection of your own cultural identity).
Problem 3) Draw upon at least one of the conceptual models of cultural identity development (e.g., Existential Model, tripartite Model, Developmental Models). Thoroughly examine how this model explains your personal experience, where you are in terms of your developmental journey, and how you see your cultural identity informing your professional identity as a future counselor.
Problem 4) Choose one social justice issue in your life related to diversity and multiculturalism and analyze it from the social justice advocacy perspective. Also, cite the scholarly literature regarding this social justice issue. Please choose something especially pertinent and meaningful for your report to be the best it can be. For example, suppose racism has affected your life in a significant way. You need to explain how this issue has been a challenge in your life and then explore the issue in the scholarly literature. Be sure to discuss the connection between your individual experience of the social justice issue and the connection to systemic opportunities and/or barriers (e.g., access to education). The last step of this part for you is to display evidence of advocacy. In this last step, you are expected to consider a student (school setting) facing the aforementioned social justice issue (racism) and 5) discuss how you might use your role as a counselor to advocate for this student. When completing this step, you are expected to use the Advocacy Competencies and cite the scholarly literature
