The readings this week reflect the challenges of law through various times and places.    Harriet Beecher Stowe (1811-1896) , an American abolitionist writer, was troubled by the implications of the biblical judgment of Jephthah's daughter. What is your reaction to the biblical story. According to Harriet Beecher Stowe, there was an alternative to the sacrifice of this young woman. What was it?  Why was it not offered?  Your thoughts?
