We learn from our reading this week that sociology is a "discipline for the curious minds" (Chambliss & Eglitis, 2014). Sociology is defined as the scientific study of human social relations, groups, and societies (Chambliss & Eglitis, 2014). So while it may be curiosity that provokes the minds of sociologists, research is conducted in a scientific manner.
Refer back to this week's reading, what social events of the 19th century caused the development of sociology? Explain why you believe sociology is or is not a legitimate discipline?
