Recruitment and Selection
Recruitment is the procedure of locating and encouraging potential applicants to apply for present or anticipated job opening. The selection procedure is a series of steps through which applicants pass. The basic reason of having a human resource plan is to have precise estimate of the number of employees needed, with matching skill requirements to meet organisational goals. It provides information regarding the manner in which present personnel are worker, the type of skills needed for different kind of categories of jobs and human resource requirements over a period of time in relation to organisational goals. The basic reason of preparing manpower inventory is to discover the quality and size of personnel available within the organisation to man several positions. Every organisation will have two main sources of supply of manpower: external and internal. Some important forecasting techniques are Markov analysis, Staffing table, Skills inventory, External labour supply, Replacement chart. Top level executives are responsible for HR planning as it is one of the vital factors influencing the success of an organisation. Usually the plans are prepared by the Human Resource Division in consultation along other corporate heads. The accountability and responsibility for manpower aspects of several divisions is on their respective heads.
