Reply to the statement and ask a question. As a future psychotherapist, an ethical issue I want to be particularly mindful of is ensuring that my recommendations regarding psychopharmacology are based on evidence and reason. Currently, I lack knowledge about the data and theories on psychopharmacological treatments, so I believe it is my duty to learn more. I may also have some biases against psychopharmacological treatments, as I have tended to think they fail to address root problems. One concern I would have when working with clients taking medication is their expectations and beliefs about the medication and the problem it targets. Do they believe medication alone will solve their problem? Do they believe they are incapable of solving their problem without medication? Do they think taking medication means something about them? Do they have any concerns about taking medication? If they are noncompliant with taking their medication, what is behind this?
