Recognising and reporting signs of abuse natalia

Problem:

Recognising and Reporting signs of abuse Natalia is a 75-year-old woman who suffers from dementia. She has been assessed to have no capacity to make financial decisions and her sister has medical power of attorney. Natalia's husband passed away 2 years ago. Natalia receives support 3 days per week for cleaning, shopping, and social outings. Natalia's sister assists with her personal care if required but she is independent in this area. Natalia cancelled her care support for a 4-week period. Upon your recent visit, Natalia has let you know that her nephew Gavin and his wife have moved into her home. Natalia has moved rooms to the back of the house. You have seen Gavin be verbally abusive to Natalia in the past, so you were surprised that he had moved in. When cleaning Natalia's room, you noticed dishes in her bathroom. Natalia was quiet on her outing and seemed a little withdrawn. You noticed that Natalia was limping, she said she had a small fall, but she was ok. When you asked to have a look to check, you noticed there was a decent bruise on the back of her leg, not consistent with a fall injury.
