Question: Reading the Course Objectives will play a part in being successful in management. I have been in the Army almost 17 years and always came across real-world issues. My job wasn't human resources, but I have work along side of personnel that has done human resources. Always came across others putting in leave and the format is wrong and have to send back to correct the deficiencies in order for the person's leave goes through and gets approved. In the Army the Human Resources Department in which is a command, has the challenges of where to place people in an assignment and also has to make sure they are qualified to get special assignments. In the Army we get better at this job by having training all the time and conducting different scenarios that might help out in the long run. In the Army we have sections that are called the S1's. These are the guys that take care of the in-processing into a unit by collecting and doing evaluation sheet, awards and what unit the soldiers will be going to place the soldier in. Appling critical thinking skills will help by solving problems in situations that can be using brain storming and thinking outside of the box of different ways to be success to get the job done. Problems in human resources will never be fix without communication. Communication is a big part of any department to work for. Questions are how is someone suppose to do or send the documents to the right people if no one communicates? Also the S1 takes care of soldiers pay, any legal actions, just like a human resources will do on the outside. I'm a recruiter and we have a little part into the human resources department. We do packets and interviews and testing. We want to qualify the person so they can join the Army.
