Read the editorials from the Richmond News-Leader, written by James J. Kilpatrick, and piece by Virginius Dabney from Life magazine. (All are in the "Assignments" section of Blackboard.) Kilpatrick was obviously against desegregating Virginia's schools. How did he suggest this could be avoided? Did he give specific reasons why desegregation would be bad for Virginia? What does Dabney say are the reasons for Virginia's refusal (not Dabney's)to integrate the schools? Does either have a good argument? (Be careful answering that last part . . .)
