Begin by viewing "Don't 'Abolish the Police.' Privatize Them." Then, read "New Perspectives in Policing" from the Harvard Kennedy School of Criminal Justice. Pay special attention to page 9, "Potential Benefits and Risks of Public/Private Police Partnerships."
After viewing the video and reading the article, respond to the following three prompts:
1. What would give a private police force the authority to conduct police business on public property in place of the public police?
2. Which of the potential benefits of public/private police partnerships makes you most hopeful? Why and how would you go about promoting this benefit in the community?
3. Which of the potential risks of public/private police partnerships is most worrisome to you? Why and how would you go about mitigating this potential risk in the community?
