Read the GISGeography article, "GIS Spatial Data Types: Vector vs Raster," and the Ordnance Survey, "Raster and Vector data," then view the Ordnance Survey's short YouTube video "Learn more about raster and vector map data."
After looking at the two basic data types used in GIS, Raster and Vector, discuss them in the context of our Lab exercise scenario. Why is vector data so prevalent in our project? What advantages does vector data have over raster data for our project? What types of raster layers would add value to our project?
