Assignment:
Read about the loophole, Schumer used in January 2022 and remember that ultimately the Voting Rights legislation was still filibustered but it was done later in the process so that Senators will have to face voters in the November election with the public knowing how they voted. Do you think Schumer should do this again with other bills? If he does, do you think people pay enough attention to these votes on popular issues that it will change who wins a majority in the House or the Senate? Do you think being anti-decriminalization (Cannabis) will hurt the Republican party's chances in future elections? Do you also think that the likely change on abortion that will be announced by the Supreme Court in June will hurt Republican support? Respond to one other student's assessment of these issues.
