Tchaikovsky music pieces seem to all have some type of meaningfulness or dramatic twist. . Tchaikovsky's "1812 Overture" continued to be popular because musical program featured booming cannons, ringing church bells, patriotic sing-a-longs, and a grand fireworks finale. The Boston event became the first to play the overture as part of a Fourth of July celebration. Tchaikovsky was born May 7 1840 in Votkinsk Russia. Tchaikovsky was a composer who was criticized harshly by peers, teachers and especially by the Russian nationalist composers. He relied heavily on romantic melodies and colorful orchestration.

When Tchaikovsky studied music at the newly founded music school in St. Petersburg. One of his popular works was the 1812 overture composed in the 18880's as part of the celebrations commemorating Russia's defeat of Napoleon. In 1877 a wealthy widow by the name of Nadezha Von Meck whose continual patronage of financial gifts enabled Tchaikovsky to devote all of his time to composing the symphony no.4 in f minor .Nadezha and Tchaikovsky wrote to one another daily for 15 years but never met one another. Tchaikovsky most successful works from his period is the opera Eugene Onegin.
