Assignment Tasks:
With reference to the information in the case study, Conexia: Entering the US Market; Barrett et al (2010) answer the following questions.
Question 1:
Conduct a detailed and systematic external environmental audit of the US IT healthcare market. This should include as a minimum; PESTLE, 5-forces, industry life cycle and competitor analysis (Johnson et al, 2011, p.48ff). Overall, what do you conclude about the opportunities and threats for Conexia?
Question 2: Evaluate the internal resources and core capabilities (Johnson et al, 2011, p.82ff) of Conexia. This should include as a minimum the value chain for this firm. Overall, what are the key strengths and weaknesses of Conexia?
Question 3: Identify a specific partner organisation for Conexia to form an alliance with in the US IT healthcare market. Justify your response in terms of:
a) The fit with the core resources & capabilities of each of the partners.
b) Fulfilling key stakeholder requirements in terms of profit and ethical considerations.
Question 4: Evaluate the issues that the proposed alliance detailed in your response to question 3 may face in developing this closer relationship. You should focus on implementation led issues regarding the alliance.
