Question
If In case a road passes from side to side a reclaimed land and an existing land, what is key main concern regarding design of pavements?
Answer
For a breathing land, it is likely that there would be no major resolution within design life of pavement structures. Though, for a just reclaimed land, even with surcharging and installation of a vertical drain, a little settlement will at rest occur after construction. If road pavement has to be constructed linking these two areas, special design has to be made in transition region. In command to avoid occurrence of differential settlement which could damage pavement structure, a transition slab can be designed to accommodate such association.
