Q. Write any three findings of binding energy curve.
(i) The binding energy per nucleon arrive at a maximum of 8.8 MeV at A = 56 corresponding to the iron nucleus (26Fe56). Therefore iron nucleus is the most stable.
(ii) The average binding energy per nucleon is approximately 8.5 MeV for nuclei having mass number ranging flanked by 40 and 120. These elements are moderately more stable and non radioactive.
(iii) For higher mass numbers the curve drops gradually and the BE/A is about 7.6 MeV for uranium. Therefore they are unstable and radioactive.
