Q. What are the classes into which the phylum Arthropoda is divided? What are the three major ones and some of their representative species?
The three main classes of arthropods are: insects (cockroachs, ants, flies, bees, beetles, butterflies), crustaceans (crabs, shrimps, lobsters, barnacles) and arachnids (spiders, scorpions, mites). Other classes are onychophorans (velvet worms), chilopods (centipedes) and diplopods (millipedes).
