Q. Show Bolt Material?
Bolt material must be selected with adequate yield strength at the operating temperature to provide the required strength to properly seat the gasket. It shows the yield strength and operating temperature range for common alloy steel bolts. See COLT Engineering Standard ES-PPG-0703 for additional guidance in bolt selection.
The bolt may be operated above the maximum temperature shown by down rating the material's yield strength. The bolt material should not be operated below the temperature range shown, since it could fail by brittle fracture.
