Q. Explain Basic physical properties of Gas?
Ans.
Gases are the least dense phase of matter. Gases can be easily expanded or compressed. They exert pressure equally in all directions on the walls of their containers. Basic physical properties of gases include pressure, volume, and temperature.
This chapter describes the Kinetic Molecular Theory (KMT) of gases which accounts for the behavior of gases. This theory describes gases as being made of very small particles that are in constant motion.
Some useful laws governing the behavior of gases will be discussed in this chapter. These include:
- Boyle's Law
- Charles' Law
- Combined Gas Law
- Avogadro's Hypothesis
- Dalton's Law of Partial Pressure
