Q. Describe Dalton Law of Partial Pressure?
Ans.
According to the Kinetic Molecular Theory, the pressure-volume- temperature relationship is the same for all gases. This is a key assumption in Dalton's Law of Partial Pressures. This law states that:
- The total pressure exerted by a mixture of gases at a constant volume and temperature is the sum of the partial pressures of the individual gases in the mixture.
In symbols, Dalton's law of partial pressures can be written for a mixture of gases as
(PT is the total pressure of the mixture. PA, PB, PC, etc., are the partial pressures of the individual gases in the mixture.)
