Q. CSCC in Gas Streams?
Due to process upset of FWKO or Treater, there may be chance of chloride carry over into the gas lines. Depending on the chloride contents of formation water, as these lines operate in high temperature, there is high risk of CSCC of austenitic SS.
If upgrading of metallurgy deem necessary as of the results of corrosion calculations, DSS shall be the prime material of choice.
Bitumen carry over into the gas lines is most likely in SAGD plants, therefore CS performs well and the risk of CSCC is minimized.
The FWKO should not be allowed to operate for a sustained period at high liquid levels since this can result in liquid or foam-carry over into the PG system when a slug hits.
