Urea is more water-soluble than uric acid an almost insoluble substance. Urea is also more toxic both however, are less toxic than ammonia. Some chondrichthian fishes, invertebrates, adult amphibians and mammals are ureotelic. Birds, Reptiles and most arthropods are uricotelic.
