Q. Application of hot service insulation?
Provision for the expansion of hot equipment shall include the installation of expansion springs in circumferential banding securing insulation and jacketing.
Engine exhausts operating above 300ºC, or where specified by OWNER, shall be covered with expanded metal shrouding secured to steel rings to provide an air space between exhaust pipe and jacket. If specified, 50 mm thick calcium silicate insulation shall be installed over the rings prior to cladding.
