Purpose
This document is to suggest new safety features for the cruise line industry that would be beneficial to major cruise line companies interested in protecting their passengers' safety and wellbeing.
Scope
This document goes into detail about the safety of travelers that want to travel via the cruise line industry. It discusses current safety measures already in place by the major cruise line companies and new measures which would be of great interest to protect the safety of the passengers and crew.
Procedure
The information in this document was collected from academic libraries and articles at Southwestern Oregon community college, and multiple marine science and technology websites discussing current safety measures.
Problems
Recent events have questioned the safety of traveling by the cruise line industry. Several factors are to be blamed for the rising safety concerns.
- Outdated radar and GPS systems
- Poor evacuation drills for passengers
- Lack of training for crew and captains
- System malfunction
If current trends of one cruise accident per year or two keep occurring it could cost billions for Major cruise line companies "Carnival, Disney, Royal Caribbean, and much more) thus resulting in higher cost for passengers and increased danger to the environment.
