Problem: Singer argues that all sentient creatures--those with conscious experience--have something in common: they have the ability to experience excruciating pain. And it is wrong to privilege the pain and suffering of humans over non-human animals. So it would be wrong to use animals for the purposes of producing food, and testing drugs and consumer products.
