Find a template online if you wish and construct a demand letter from your law firm in the Mary Robinson case. Her insurance carrier is refusing to pay her, stating that since she bought a new car, she wasn't covered at the time of her accident. This is a violation of state law, and you are writing her insurance carrier demanding that they pay her under the terms of her policy. You may make up all other pertinent information. You need to make this formal, but it need not include any attachments.
GUIDE FROM THE TEXTBOOK: "A demand letter generally seeks resolution of a dispute or settlement of some matter, utilizing persuasive writing techniques. Sometimes it requests (or demands) that a party stop certain conduct (e.g., creating a nuisance or infringing on a patent) or comply with an existing obligation (e.g., payment of money owed). Other times a demand letter is sent in the hopes of settling an existing or potential lawsuit (e.g., a claim resulting from an automobile accident). Regardless of the reason for the letter, most demand letters include (1) a statement of facts establishing that the client has a legitimate legal claim, (2) a discussion of the law showing the legal basis for a cause of action, (3) an itemization of damages, and (4) a demand for a specific settlement."
