Music Class Assignment
You will write three essays in all. The essays need to be typed with double-spaces. For the 10-point essays, think of a paragraph or two, and for the 20-point essays aim for three or more paragraphs.
1) Psycho helps usher in the New American Cinema era. Using Psycho as a model, discuss the major changes to film music in the 1960s.
2) Between the years of 1977 and 1984, there were numerous alternatives to the full orchestral score. Describe these alternatives and give examples mentioned in the text from this period.
3) John Williams initiated a revival of the Classic film score in the late 1970s. Describe the qualities of the classic score and cite examples from at least three films scored by John Williams between 1975 and 1984.
