Oftentimes, hospitals have clergy on staff as part of the "care team" to provide religious or spiritual counseling or services at the bedside of patients. If clergy (rabbi, priest, minister, or other clergy persons) are considered health care providers for purposes of HIPAA, are there different steps that should be taken to ensure the protection of patient health information?
