Problem
One of the goals of the Department of Asian American Studies is liberation. Although the government is often good, we also must recognize that sometimes actors in government including public officials and government employees engage in egregious misconduct, thereby undermining our country's rule of law and oppressing victims as well as observers who believe in fundamental rights such as equal protection. Has either the Democratic or Republican (or a third party) done a better job of standing up for the rights of Vietnamese Americans in the fact of government misconduct, thereby strengthening the rule of law...and gaining the favor/loyalty of Vietnamese Americans? Provide nuance in your response and citation as appropriate.
