• Analyse the organisational strategic plan of the organisation to determine the associated HR strategic direction, objectives and targets and comment on the alignment between the two

b) • Undertake additional environmental research and analysis to identify emerging practices and trends, which may impact on human resource management in the organisation. Your research should also consider new technology and its impact on job roles and job design in your research Provide evidence of your research

• NB: Emerging practices and trends might include (but are not limited to): changes in consumer patterns or community expectations, economic trends, new products or services, new technologies political changes, qualification or educational changes

c) • Research and comment on recent and potential changes to industrial/legal requirements that may impact the HR strategic planning process

d) • Identify future labour needs and skill requirements and options for sourcing labour supply for a particular part of your organisation e.g. A department within the organisation or a position that employs a large number of employees etc

• NB: Future labour needs refer to the number, type, competency and quality of labour required to achieve the organizations strategic objectives

• NB: Options for sourcing labour supply refers to the various ways in which labour can be brought to the job or be accessed e.g. hiring causal labour, outsourcing etc.

2. DEVELOP HUMAN RESOURCES STRATEGIC PLAN

a) • Document the process you will use to consult with relevant managers to discuss their human resource preferences and agree on human resource philosophies, values and policies

• Develop strategic objectives and targets for human resource services

• NB: Strategic objectives and targets for HR may relate to EEO, diversity, HRIS, induction, IR, job analysis & design, OH&S, performance management, professional development, recruitment & selection, remuneration, staff retention & succession planning etc

c)

• Examine options for the provision of human resources services & analyse the costs and benefits for each. You should identify the appropriate technology and systems to support agreed HR

• NB: Options for the provision of HR services may include (but are not limited to) external provision by a consultant or contractor/s, outsourcing, internal HR provision of the service/s, internal non HR provision of the service/s, merging of business units

d)

• Develop a strategic human resources plan that will support your strategic objectives

• NB: Human resources plan includes priorities, objectives and timeframes

e)

• Develop a risk management plan to support your strategic human resource plan

3.

IMPLEMENT HUMAN RESOURCES STRATEIC PLAN

a)

• Describe how you will work with others (i.e. relevant stakeholders) to see that the plan is implemented and how you will review and monitor the plan

• Describe also how you will adapt the plan should circumstances change and the process you will use to evaluate and review performance against the objectives specified in the strategic plan

4. PRESENTATION OF PROPOSAL TO MANAGEMENT TEAM

a) Prepare a power-point presentation (which includes you HR plan the associated risk management plan) which you would present to the Management Team of your selected organisation for their consideration and approval.

The purpose of your presentation is to demonstrate your effective communication skills and your ability to obtain senior management commitment for your plan

- Your presentation should contain three clear parts:
1.1. Opening
Rapport building
Introduction and outline of structure of the presentation
1.2. Body
The body of your presentation
1.3. Close
Summary and review
Questions and answers
o NB:
o Include any hand-outs or other presentation aids that you would use to assist you deliver your message
o Document how you would encourage audience participation and involvement in your presentation
