Problem: A theory of personality is a way of accounting for what people are like and how they act they propose there are 3 central components to personality:
1. Basic Tendencies which are the five personality factors
2. Characteristic adaptations
3. Self-concept a form of characteristic adaptation The basic tendencies interact with 3 peripheral components outside of personality: the biological inputs to the basic tendencies, the external environment, and the objective biography all that a person does and experiences Connecting all of the above components is a dynamic processes, such as perception, coping, role playing, reasoning, etc.
- Three criteria characterize personality traits:1.Consistency: individual must be somewhat consistent across situations in their behaviours related to a trait2.Stability: individual with a trait are stable over time in behaviours related to the trait3.Individual differences: people differ from one another on behaviours related to the trait.Traits are important because they describe stable patterns of behaviour that persist for a long period of time
Big Five: openness, conscientiousness, extraversion, Agreableness, neuroticism

Explain these components Explain what these components are that they are referring to?
Robert Mc Crae & Paul Costa theory might change different personality?
