Properties of Unsaturated halides (Halo-alkene)
Halo-alkene is a colourless gas at room temperature. The boiling point of it is -13°C. The halogen atom in vinyl chloride is not reactive like in other alkyl halides. Though, c = c bond of vinyl chloride provides the usual addition reactions.
The non-reactivity of chlorine atom is because of resonance stabilization. The lone pair on chlorine can react in delocalization (Resonance) to provide two canonical architectures.
