Project memo and baderman island

Task:

Over the past few years, Baderman Island has seen the completion of several construction projects. A new hotel and the expansion of the convention center have put a strain on the transportation around the island. The trolleys have become over crowded. The golf carts are not being used as much as originally expected. Cost is a factor in the under utilization of the golf carts to move around the island.

The Baderman Management group is looking for a project manager to implement a new mode of transportation on the island. Given the size of the island and the terrain, bicycle rental might meet the needs of the customers by providing an inexpensive mode of transportation that is convenient and abundantly available.

As the project manager, you must research the costs to build out this kind of service. Throughout this course, you will develop a high-level project plan with the service available in three months, just in time for the high tourist season on the island. You must do this by determining the objectives and measures of success for the project. You will eventually develop a Quality Management Plan based on these measures.

Include in your project plan the build out of the rental locations, procurement of the bicycles, and hiring of staff to run the rental booths.

Reference the Trolley and Golf Cart Usage Memo in the Baderman Island virtual organization to complete this project throughout the course. The memo is located at Baderman Island Home Page → Baderman Island Employee Access → Operations → Future Development → Alternative Modes of Transportation.

Consider the following: A triple constraint in projects is time, cost, and quality. Managing these may be challenging for a project manager. In the Baderman Island project, the management of the resort has now considered the average age of the guests on the island and determined that bicycles may not work for all the guests. The crowd that frequents the island is young and would welcome the experience that the Segway provides. Management is now asking you to consider mopeds or Segway's instead of bicycles.

Develop a plan in no more than 1,050 words managing scope and budget creep for the new requirements in the Baderman Island project. Specifically address the following:

o Establish a review board.

o Identify the tools or process you would use to manage changes.

o Develop the thresholds for the project to enter these processes.

o Explain any affect the changes in this project have on the project budget.
