Process for disassembly, repair, and assembly

Problem:

A service shop for aircraft engines follows the following process for disassembly, repair, and assembly: - Aircraft Engine Assembly Shop: Receive aircrafts that need service, remove engine, dis-assemble engine, check components and send defective components to the repair shop, wait to receive working components, assemble engine and install into the aircraft. - Repair Shop: Fixes the defective components and return to the Assembly Shop. Situation: "A certain component frequently arrived from the repair shop in an inadequate state which could cause expensive slowed turnaround time for the engine. The guys in the assembly shop would work extra hours during lunch just to make sure the engine was available for the aircraft in time." Is this a good practice? Justify your answer using concepts covered in the course.
