Problem:
A young woman is raised by parents who teach her to value traditional gender roles. Her mother stayed home to raise her and her sisters; and her father was the breadwinner. As an adult, she decides not to get married or to have children. Instead, she focuses on developing her creative talents and pursues a career as a graphic designer. Her parents love and support her, but they don't understand how she turned out to be so different from them. A sociologist might explain it to them this way... Everyone's an individual! There's no predicting what they'll do. Kids are hard-wired to rebel against their parents. It's genetic. She's just doing what comes naturally. She's going through a phase. Give her time and she'll grow into the adult you want her to be. Parents aren't the only influence on their children's lives, and socialization doesn't end after childhood.
