Problem related to performance appraisal

Assignment task:

Agree or disagree on the Performance Appraisal, and why/ short paragraph please!

One of my friends was employed by a real estate company and said that they experienced the halo effect during the process. She had a history of working as a model in Europe and was preparing to launch a new career; to put it another way, she was incredibly beautiful. She was immediately hired into the team after applying to a high-end real estate company, despite the fact that she did not even have all of the necessary qualifications. In this instance, the halo effect consisted of the manner in which her appearance immediately identified her status and qualifications.

I think that it is important to prevent the halo bias, but I'm not sure how one can control their own personal bias. I am completely skeptical that it is possible to eliminate halo bias. The only way I can imagine a bias of that kind being eliminated is if there are more stringent requirements that applicants must fulfill in order to be considered eligible for the job.

According to the lecture material, the most popular rater training to avoid bias mistake is rater error training, often known as RET. The purpose of RET is to make raters aware of the errors and mistakes that they are likely to encounter and to provide several methods for minimizing these errors. In my opinion, this is one of the most successful ways to control because it helps raters to comprehend the different accidental errors that may occur; in other words, it allows raters to have all of the cards on the table and see a new perspective.
