Problem: Allison is a twelve-year-old female living in a single parent household with her mother, Allison, and her seventeen-year-old sister, Stephanie. Allison was recently assessed at a crisis center for risk of harm to self or others after she stated that she wanted to kill herself. This was her second visit to the crisis center for the same reason. Allison, reportedly, refuses to go to school, is often irritable, and regularly argues with her mother. Allison states that she has no friends and sometimes refuses to leave the family home. Mother, Beth, states that client has cut herself in the past. Beth states that Allison has always been "overly dramatic" but has gotten worse since they moved back to the area following the break up of her brief and unhappy marriage. Beth states that she (mother) is on medication for bipolar disorder.
