You are the manager of the HIMT department in a 450-Bed urban hospital. You recently attended a seminar where you heard a speaker discuss Information Governance (IG) and you are excited to bring it back to your facility. You recognize that your organization really has no understanding of the value of the integrity of its data and information beyond that needed for the revenue cycle business, nor does it understand how it might use the information it has in various files and locations to improve its management and use of resources. You realize that there will be several components to consider as you contemplate moving forward with the project. This is especially important considering that the IG plan will involve implementation for the entire hospital, not just the HIM department or EHR.
