Problem related to hiv medications


Case study: Juan is HIV-positive. He has been on HIV medications for the past two years. However, his physician reports that he is not taking all his meds and he does not take them on time. Juan is an active IV drug user. He is 45 years old. He is divorced. He has three children who live with their mother. He is currently unemployed and receiving monthly disability insurance and Medicaid. He lives in a room in an apartment belonging to a friend (who is also an IV drug user). He lives in an inner-city neighborhood where there is a lot of crime and drugs. He is constantly short of money and is unable to pay child support for his three girls who are under 18 years of age. They love their father but see very little of him. His ex-wife is very angry with him and wants nothing to do with him. She is HIV-negative. She works as a home health aide and is constantly struggling to make ends meet. Juan does not attend all his medical appointments and his physician is very worried about him. Juan seems to be depressed and his daily routine seems to be focused
