The U.S. government should focus on fixing the Affordable Care Act (ACA) rather than repealing it, as the ACA has brought significant improvements to healthcare access for millions of Americans. Since its implementation, the ACA has helped to dramatically reduce the uninsured rate, particularly through Medicaid expansion and the creation of health insurance exchanges. It also introduced important protections, such as prohibiting insurance companies from denying coverage or charging higher premiums to individuals with pre-existing conditions. While it is true that the ACA has faced challenges, such as rising premiums in certain areas and limited insurer choices in some states, these issues can be addressed through targeted reforms, such as enhancing subsidies, expanding Medicaid in states that have not adopted it, and increasing competition in the marketplace.
Repealing the ACA entirely would likely reverse the progress made in expanding coverage and could leave millions of Americans without insurance, particularly vulnerable populations. Rather than dismantling the system, fixing the ACA would allow for the continuation of its gains while providing the opportunity to make necessary improvements to reduce costs, improve access, and increase market stability. This approach offers a more practical and equitable solution for ensuring affordable healthcare for all Americans.

Discussion 2 Teosha
I believe the U.S. government should focus on fixing the Affordable Care Act (ACA) rather than repealing it. The ACA has made significant strides in increasing healthcare access and reducing the number of uninsured individuals. Many people have benefited from provisions like coverage for pre-existing conditions and the expansion of Medicaid in various states.
However, there are certain areas that need improvement. For instance, the rising premiums and out-of-pocket costs can be a barrier for many. By addressing these issues, such as negotiating drug prices or providing additional subsidies, we can enhance the ACA's effectiveness and ensure more equitable access to healthcare.
Repealing the ACA could lead to millions losing their insurance, which would counteract the progress made in expanding access to care. Therefore, a thoughtful reform approach that builds upon the existing framework would be more beneficial for the health of the population. Need Online Tutoring?
