Problem related to end of the vedic age

Assignment task: I need help/ideas with a discussion reply please. The original post is:

The varna system was started near the end of the Vedic Age around 1000- 600 BCE. It started with the assignment of the people by the religious and government leaders. They were sorted into four categories based on occupation. Brahmins were the priests and religious leaders, Kshatriya were chiefs and warriors, Vaishya were farmers and traders, and Shudra were laborers and servants. Over time varnas became a class you were born into instead of an occupation you employed. Lines were drawn and were unable to be crossed, moreso in the caste system. The caste system defined who you were and what you were to do with your life on a much more detailed level.  You couldn't marry out of of your caste it because of the stigma of associated with someone of a lower class. This left the poor to remain in poverty and the powerful to remain in power.

I think that a varna/caste system like this is wrong. I think it discounts the respect all people should receive regardless of their parent's occupation or status. I think that it is an unjust system that would breed corruption.
